57冊目。シリーズものっぽいけど、1話完結ぽいので適当に買ってみた。9000語くらい。

100ページ弱で9歳程度と理想的なレベル感である。

ある日スーパーパワー(物理)を手に入れた少女Josieの物語なんだけど、大変楽しい。

The dinner lady put butter on Billy Brand’s swollen face but still he could not squeeze his head through the railings. dinner ladyってなんだ？と思って調べたら、給食の配膳の人みたいな意味らしい。 学食のおばちゃんってところか。

学友の少年が金網に頭がはまって抜けないシーン。

“Will he explode, miss?” asked a little lad. “Miss, miss, will they have to cut off his head?” asked another.

まず学友たちのコメントがひどいwww 爆破しないしヘッドをcutoffもだめだ…！www

ポールを物理的にねじ曲げて少年を救出。 消防士を連れて戻ってきた大人に、

“Shall I straighten them out again, sir?” asked Josie. “Don’t talk such drivel!” said Mr Murray.

丁寧に訪ねてるのもおかしいし、馬鹿なこと言うな！と一蹴にしている大人もなんかおかしい。 結局、きちんと直している。

Billy Brand had had to stand all afternoon outside Mr Murray’s door. Josie had had to write a hundred times I won’t do any more tricks.

挙句、大人を騙して揶揄ったと判断され罰せられるBillyもJosieもかわいそう。 大人の行動が全体的に雑である。

tellyはテレビのことか。初めて見た単語。 テレビとお茶は同時に語られるのね。

文章簡単で楽しく読めて程よい長さなので、この作家さんお勧めできる。 ロアウド・ダールよりもう少し子供向けで説教臭くない。
